With a circumference of approximately 16 km, this small island can be circled in half a day by bicycle or in about three hours by renting a bike. The island is surrounded by emerald green sea and coral reefs, and is famous for being the setting of an NHK TV drama series. At the center of the island is a 99-meter-high peak, Datake, from the top of which you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Yaeyama Islands.

Sightseeing Spots 18. Hamashima Island
An uninhabited island about 10 minutes by boat from Kohama Island, surrounded by the sea with a 360-degree panoramic view.
It is also known for changing its shape depending on the time of day, and has been filmed by various media.
You can go there from Ishigaki Island, but it takes 30 minutes from Ishigaki, so people with seasickness or small children often take a tour from Kohama Island. It is also famous as a sunset spot.
