◆Rental bicycles are convenient for getting around Kohama Island!
What is the Obama Bushi Poem Monument?
The first spot many people see after landing on Kohama Island is the stone monument at Churasan Plaza, located at the entrance to the Otake observatory.
The monument stands quietly on the way to the observatory, so many tourists would pass by it without looking at it carefully, but it is inscribed with the island song of Kohama Island (each of the Yaeyama Islands has its own island song).
The monument is inscribed with the Kohama-bushi, a famous song representing the island along with Churasan, so be sure to take a look at it when you head to the Otake Observation Deck!
