◆Rental bicycles are convenient for getting around Kohama Island!
What is Seodake Observatory?
The observatory is located on the west side of Odake, Kohama Island. Nearby is Kayama Island, and Iriomote Island and Yubu Island can be seen across the Yonara Channel.
It is not well known to tourists, so you can enjoy a private experience.
There is a "Monument of Churasan" and benches at the observatory, so you can take a break and go home.
There is a small parking lot where only a few cars can stop, and you can reach it by climbing about 100 steps that follow the slope from the entrance.
It may be difficult under the blazing sun in the middle of summer. Be sure to take precautions against heat stroke!
How to play at Seodake Observatory
Some people prefer the spectacular view from Nishi-dake (西大岳) to that of Ōdake (大岳).
It is also recommended to join a tour that takes you to this observatory. The sunset view is also spectacular, so this is definitely a place you should visit at least once.
