Explore the mangrove forests of Kohama Island!We will take you on a brackish water exploration tour into the mangrove forests. Mangrove forests are important hiding places for crabs, shellfish, and young fish that hide in the sand.
Please enjoy the view of Iriomote Island on the other side of the island while walking around the mud flats and tide pools as well!
Small children can also participate!
The weather on the island is changeable, but we will have fun even in the rain and play as much as we can. This is a tour for children to see, touch, and feel the subtropical nature.

The sand felt so good when I stepped on it with my bare feet, and the time passed quickly while I was absorbed in walking around the mud flats. My son was delighted to see shellfish, crabs, small fish, and many other creatures! The guide's stories also taught us a lot, and although my son is a bit timid, it was a valuable opportunity for him to try holding a crab for the first time and to feel more than what he learns from the textbook for his 3rd grade science class. He said it was the most enjoyable activity of the trip to Kohama Island. I would like to participate again, as it seems that there is something new to discover every time we go there because of the nature we are dealing with.

520代Month of posting: 2022/05We joined the mangrove walking tour in the afternoon. We booked the tour the day before, but they were very courteous and helpful, I was able to join the tour. The tour walked through the mangrove forest on the west side of Kohama Island, The tour was a 60-90 minute walk through the mangrove forest west of Kohama Island, then out to the ocean to walk on the mangrove mudflats. I think the walk took about 60-90 minutes. It was interesting and passed in an instant. While looking at the various creatures of the mudflats and mangroves, We were given explanations about the creatures and the environment. There are various types of mangroves, and we learned about their different survival strategies and how they support each other, We enjoyed learning about their different survival strategies and how they live by supporting each other. We could observe the mangroves even closer than on the canoe tour, and we could see various creatures such as crabs and fish.
