The Nakama River, which has the largest mangrove forest in Japan, is a quiet, relaxing, Ohara Port side area. There are many types of mangroves and a wide variety of flora and fauna can be seen.

The Nakama River is famous for cruises on pleasure boats, but kayaks are used to go through narrow tributaries that are inaccessible to pleasure boats.
